AMS Adult Learner Fee
MITE, as an affiliate program of the American Montessori Society (AMS), is required to submit an adult learner registration fee to AMS at the start of the academic cycle for each enrolled learner. The AMS adult learner registration fee (currently $240) covers your AMS registration, student membership, and processing of recommendations & credentials after the successful completion of the program. The AMS Adult Learner Fee is collected as part of the initial enrollment process, and is paid in full to AMS within 4-6 weeks of the start of the adult learner’s academic phase. The membership period included within the fee covers a 2-year period that begins once AMS receives the fee.
Materials Fee
The Materials Fee is collected as part of the initial enrollment process, and is used to cover the cost of the curriculum & educational course materials provided to the adult learner as part of their academic phase. These costs include the intellectual work put into curriculum research, development, re-evaluation and updating, as well as the physical work directed towards the printing and copying of the educational materials.
Seminar Fees
The Practicum Phase includes 3 weekend seminars, incorporating 24 academic clock-hours for the purposes of assessment & classroom instruction. A seminar fee of $150 will be invoiced to the adult learner one month prior to each seminar and is expected to be submitted no later than 3 days after the completion of each seminar. These fees are used to cover the cost of organizing the events in question, securing lecturers, and developing curriculum for the seminars.
Financial Aid
MITE is not able to offer discounts, scholarships, grants, loans, or other forms of financial aid. We strongly encourage interested learners to explore potential sponsorship possibilities with their practicum site or with other local Montessori schools. Additionally, adult learners are encouraged to research funding opportunities offered through the American Montessori Society at www.amshq.org and/or regional and national Montessori networks.
MACTE Adult Learner Fee
MITE is accredited by The Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE) and required to submit an adult learner registration fee (currently $171) for each enrolled learner at the start of the academic cycle. This fee covers the registration and maintenance of student records with MACTE. The MACTE Adult Learner Fee is collected as part of the initial enrollment process, and is paid in full to MACTE within 4-6 weeks of the start of the adult learner’s academic phase.
Application Fee
The Application Fee is collected as part of the application package, and is used to cover the cost of processing, paperwork, tours, and the general enrollment process for each new applicant.
Self-Directed Practicum Fee
As part of their practicum phase, adult learners may opt for either the supervised practicum, or the self-directed practicum. In the supervised practicum, the Adult Learner works under direct, full-time supervision of a certified teacher of their own choosing, who is at least in the 2nd year of teaching at the level of instruction after receipt of their Montessori credentials. The Supervising teacher maintains full responsibility for the classroom. The Supervised intern will receive a minimum of three visitations, from an assigned Field Consultant, during the course of the Practicum year. No fees are collected in this regard.
However, if an adult learner opts for the self-directed practicum, the adult learner works without the direct supervision or guidance of a certified teacher and maintains full responsibility for her/his classroom. The Self-Directed Adult Learner will receive a minimum of 3 on-site visits throughout the Practicum year from an assigned Field Consultant, and additional visits and/or consultation at the discretion of the MITE Program Director. There is an additional fee of $500 for a Self-Directed Practicum. This fee is collected during the start of the practicum phase and covers the cost of additional MITE Field Consultant visits and consultations.
